Sabero is a Colombian platform for ICFES Saber 11 exam preparation. It combines a bank of over 10,000 ICFES-style questions with an AI tutor that explains each answer step by step, a coach that knows the student's history, and analytics based on the same statistical methodology used by the official ICFES: Item Response Theory.
Why Sabero exists
Every period, more than 570,000 Colombian students take the Saber 11 exam. Their score — on a scale of 0 to 500 — determines access to public universities, scholarships like Generación E and Colombia Estudia, and in many cases their professional path for years to come.
Most students prepare with the same resources as always: photocopies, YouTube videos, or in-person courses with fixed schedules and costs not everyone can afford. None of those tools know exactly which topics a student struggles with or give immediate feedback.
Sabero was founded in Colombia in 2024 with that question. With AI and the ICFES's own statistical methodology, any student can identify their exact weaknesses, practice with questions calibrated to their level, and receive explanations — from their phone or computer, whenever they want.
The methodology: Item Response Theory
Sabero does not measure performance by percentage of correct answers. It uses Item Response Theory (IRT), the same statistical model the ICFES applies to calculate official scores.
IRT estimates each student's skill level in each subject and topic, taking into account the difficulty of each question. Getting a hard question right counts more than getting an easy one right — exactly like the real exam. The result: a score estimate that reflects the expected performance on the Saber 11, not just how many questions were answered correctly.
